DJI RS 4 Mini Overview
Custom-designed for mirrorless cameras, the DJI RS 4 Mini Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer is a lightweight single-handed gimbal stabilizer that supports a payload of up to 4.4 lb. This single-grip gimbal uses the DJI RS stabilization algorithm for enhanced performance. Weighing just 2 lb, it can capture smooth video for up to 13 hours thanks to the built-in 3100mAh battery and is supported by the detachable extended grip/tripod.
Mount a Camera or Smartphone
The lightweight RS 4 Mini offers a payload capacity of 4.4 lb, effortlessly handling combinations like the Sony a7 series mirrorless camera with a 24-70 mm f/2.8 GM II lens, as well as vLog cameras like the Sony ZV series. When paired with DJI Mic series microphones, fill lights, and other accessories, it still allows for smooth camera movements.You can also quickly switch to a smartphone stabilizer using the new Phone Holder.
Quick Auto-Axis Locks
The RS 4 Mini adds auto-axis locks previously found on DJI’s flagship gimbals, which allow the three axis locks to automatically unlock upon power-on and lock upon power-off or sleep. This speeds up the filming, transitioning, and storage processes. The storage structure has also been upgraded, with the axis arms folding flatter to save space. Combined with automated axis locks, the gimbal can be stored quickly with the press of a button, making it easy to fit into a bag for convenient carrying.
Fast Vertical Switch
The gimbal offers the fastest switch between horizontal and vertical shooting in the RS series. To switch to vertical shooting, simply loosen and press the single-side knob, remove the gimbal’s horizontal plate, rotate it 90°, and then tighten it back in place.This can all be done in approximately 10 seconds, quickly switching to vertical videos, which is well-suited for mobile phone capture for social media sites.
Easy Balancing
The RS 4 Mini has been meticulously upgraded by adding Teflon interlayers previously used on DJI’s flagship gimbals, reducing friction for smoother balancing. The new fine-tuning knob on the tilt axis can move the camera forward or backward, achieving precise, millimeter-level balancing.The upper quick release plate adds three positioning slots, allowing you to choose different installation positions based on your camera and offering more balancing space. When you need to remove the camera from the gimbal and reattach it, it also aids in memory for quick repositioning without affecting the balancing.
Wireless Recording and Zoom
After Bluetooth pairing, you can control the recording start/stop on your camera or phone directly via the gimbal’s record button, without the hassle of a cable release. The new zoom control function allows you to control Power Zoom for PZ lenses and Clear Image Zoom simply by pushing the joystick, making one-handed operation a breeze.A camera only needs to be paired once, after which it can reconnect seamlessly and automatically.
Upgraded UI
The OLED touchscreen now displays icons more clearly and runs more smoothly. New gimbal status prompts have been added, and when customizing parameters, you can fine-tune values directly using the front dial.When using the touchscreen auto-lock feature, the screen will display the current gimbal and joystick modes at low brightness to prevent accidental touches and help conserve battery power.
Intelligent Tracking and Composition
The RS Intelligent Tracking Module is a new universal accessory for RS 4 series gimbals. It assists novice videographers in intelligent follow-filming and composition, keeping the human subject in a consistent position within the frame. This is particularly useful for orbit shots, backward tracking shots, and tracking yourself from a fixed camera position when filming alone. The module supports tracking up to 32.8′, and functions reliably even in complex scenes, such as multi-person environments. Even if the subject temporarily leaves the frame, the gimbal can find and follow the subject again.The module installs via the magnetic quick release design onto the tilt axis, ensuring it is securely mounted.
Shooting Modes
The RS 4 Mini can switch between a variety of shooting modes:
- Responsive mode: Use hand gestures to start/stop, suitable for creating fast orbit shots.
- Smooth follow mode: For smoothing out follow shots and parallel tracking.
- Horizontal mode and a vertical view for social media without the need for additional accessories.
- Upright mode: Standard mode for walking or running shots.
- Underslung mode: The gimbal flips so your camera hangs for low-angle and tracking shots.
- Flashlight mode: The camera can be held forward like a flashlight to shoot in confined spaces.
- Briefcase mode: This makes it easier for low-angle shots using the optional briefcase handle.

The upgraded 4th-gen RS Stabilization algorithm strikes a balance between stabilization strength and the tactile feel of camera movement, delivering both excellent performance and an enhanced user experience.It also offers significantly improved stability when shooting in vertical orientation, easily steadying dynamic shots like running or low-angle perspectives. The gimbal is optimized for compatibility with various cameras, automatically calibrating motor strength to adapt to different scenarios.
Built-In Extended-Life Battery
Both the charging speed and battery life have increased by 30% compared to the previous generation RS Mini. With a 13-hour maximum operating duration, it provides ample power for all-day filming.It also supports fast charging, offering 5-hour use with just a 30-minute charge. It charges to full in less than two hours using the included USB-C cable.
Briefcase Handle Accessory
The new briefcase handle is an optional accessory designed specifically for the RS 4 Mini, reducing the size by about 20% and the weight by about 12%, making low-angle handheld filming more effortless.
